We're recruiting an SEN Support Worker to join a specialist educational setting in Camborne from January.
This could be an excellent opportunity if you already support children or young people and would like to bring your experience into education.
You'll work with pupils who may experience:
- Autism (ASC).
- ADHD.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Speech, language and communication difficulties.
- Moderate learning needs.
- Emotional regulation difficulties.
- Barriers to accessing mainstream learning.
Your role will be to help each young person participate in education in a way that works for them.
That could involve providing 1:1 support, helping a pupil regulate before returning to learning, adapting an activity, supporting communication or simply being the consistent adult they know they can turn to.
You'll also:
- Support personalised education and development plans.
- Encourage independence and confidence.
- Reinforce positive behaviour strategies.
- Support social interaction and communication.
- Assist with classroom and practical activities.
- Accompany pupils on educational and enrichment activities where required.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and specialist support staff.
- Record observations and contribute to discussions about progress.
Previous experience with SEND is valuable, but we also welcome relevant experience from outside a traditional school environment.
You might currently work as a:
Support Worker • Youth Worker • Care Worker • Learning Support Assistant • SEN Teaching Assistant • Behaviour Mentor • Residential Support Worker
You'll need to be patient, resilient and comfortable supporting young people whose behaviour or communication can sometimes be challenging.
As travel may form part of the working day, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required for this opportunity.
You'll also require an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
