Experienced Secondary Teacher Wanted for an SEMH Setting in Bury

Cover People are recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary school in Bury for a Secondary SEMH Teacher to start in September 2026. The school is looking for a committed teacher who can provide structure, consistency and encouragement while helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The position is full-time and long term, with the possibility of a permanent role for the successful candidate.

Job Title: Secondary SEMH Teacher

Location: Bury

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, long-term, with potential to become permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Daily Rate: £160-£230 DOE

Teachers currently working in mainstream secondary schools who have experience with SEMH, behavioural needs, SEND or challenging classroom environments are also encouraged to apply.

• Teach engaging lessons that are adapted to reflect different abilities, needs and learning profiles.

• Provide clear expectations, routines and boundaries to create a positive and predictable classroom environment.

• Monitor learning, behaviour and progress, contributing to pupil targets and EHCP outcomes where required.

• Develop positive relationships with pupils and encourage greater confidence, engagement and independence.

• Work closely with support staff, pastoral teams, school leaders and external professionals.

• Manage behaviour calmly and consistently, using appropriate positive strategies.

• Help pupils re-engage with education and make progress both academically and personally.

• Participate in meetings, training and wider school activities as required.

• A calm, patient and consistent approach to supporting young people.

• Able to adapt teaching and resources to meet individual needs.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Committed to helping pupils achieve positive educational and personal outcomes.

• An up-to-date CV including your full education and employment history.

• Proof of Right to Work and UK address.

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

• At least 2 professional references.

• A reliable, professional and enthusiastic approach.
