Summary
We are looking for candidates who have successfully achieved their CCT/CESR/equivalent sign off in the specialty of Intensive Care Medicine and who now wish to spend 12 months developing sub-speciality experience in the field of neurocritical care. As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, helping to deliver excellent services and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.Post-CCT fellows will join a group of 13 Consultants on our 13 bedded Neuro ICU and act at senior specialist fellow level. The job plan will take the form of daytime shifts with 0.5 WTE clinical. The other 0.5 WTE will provide opportunity for the accomplishment of other post-CCT skills such as senior management, governance, research and the accomplishment of specialist skills relevant to our specialty, such as Neuro POCUS, CFAM or EEG. Fellows will staff our full shift (1:9) airway rota and work alongside our excellent multidisciplinary team of resident doctors, fellows, advanced critical care practitioners, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists and nurses. Successful applicants will gain from three key aspects during their post-CCT fellowship year, supported by 0.5 WTE clinical/0.5 WTE non-clinical day-time role as well as out of hours clinical service: (1) Senior leadership experience at Consultant level within the Neuro ICU(2) Research opportunities within neurocriticare, neurology & neurosurgery(3) Advanced ultrasound: Training opportunites for Neuro POCUS, neurophysiological assessments (CFAM, EEG) and advanced multimodal monitoring of the neurocritically unwell patient. Full support for study leave will be given with opportunities to attend regional and national conferences in our sub-specialty field. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed fellow doctors and dentists. Applicants requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application. Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. Grades for Trust appointed fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay) Proposed interview date: 12th October 2026This vacancy closes on or before 30th September 2026
