Summary
Dietitian, Band 6 Gastroenterology -1 year fixed term .
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our large departmentwithin the inpatient ward team.Thesuccessful candidate will provide dietetic cover to the gastroenterology ward involving oral nutritional supportandenteral feedingacross a variety of conditions. This post will also include gastroenterology out-patient work with clinics each week to support IBD patients and general gastroenterology.
There would be an expectation that this post holder would be involved in training student dietitians from both Plymouth and Birmingham City Universities, on completion of the clinical supervisory skills course.
We offer a variety of in house CPD opportunities, clinicalsupervisionand preceptorships for newly qualified staff.

• Provide dietetic cover tothegastroenterology wardinvolving oral nutritional support, enteral feeding, this patient group includes IBD, haematology patients and eating disorders. The post holdermay also be called tosupport to eating disorder patientswho may be based on other acute wards.
• This post will also include gastroenterology out-patient work, approximately 2 clinics per weekwith support to IBD pts and general gastroenterology.
• To deliver group education sessions and training on nutrition-related topics, to a range of health professionals and patients.
• Assistthe department with training student dietitians.
• To contribute to the implementation of the Trust Nutritionand Hydrationstrategy.

1. To provide and develop an effective and evidence-based dietetic service to medical gastroenterology andsupport eating disorder patients.
1. To take approx 2regular clinics per week supporting patients withgastrointestinaldiagnoses.
This includes:
1. providingexpert advice to patients,carersand clinicians (both within NBT and areas served by the specialist units) about the most effective nutritional treatment
1. ensuring special diets and artificial nutrition meet or exceed nutrient requirements despite significant dietary or medical restrictions
1. liaising with members of the health care team in hospital and in the community to ensure they are fully informed and able to support the patient in implementing theappropriate nutritionalprescription / management for their condition.
