Hays Education is seeking

resilient, dedicated, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to support schools and specialist education settings across

Sheffield. These opportunities involve working with

secondary-aged students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges, offering rewarding roles for candidates who are confident, caring, and committed to making a positive difference.

What You'll Be Doing:

Supporting secondary-aged students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges to re-engage with learning.

Working across a range of

Sheffield schools and specialist education settings, including environments focused on behaviour support, emotional regulation, and personal development.

Providing

targeted one-to-one or small-group support tailored to individual needs.

Assisting with classroom routines, behaviour de-escalation strategies, and day-to-day learning activities.

✅ What We're Looking For:

Experience working with

secondary-aged children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or additional support needs.

A background in

care or support roles, such as social care, youth work, mental health support, health and social care, or similar.

calm, patient, and resilient approach, particularly in challenging situations.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
