Summary
The Sport and Culture Loans team is responsible for managing the legacies of two of DCMS’ largest and most high-profile support interventions during the pandemic: the Culture Recovery Fund and the Sport Survival Package. Managing these portfolios is an exciting and unique programme of work that has far-reaching impact to the department and its sectors. This team sits within the wider Visitor Economy, Heritage, Loans and Government Art Collection (VEHLAC) Directorate.
In this role you will benefit from being embedded in the Loans team, as well as the VEHLAC analysis team - meaning you get to best of both policy and analysis worlds! This will bring the opportunity to lead a variety of analytical work, engaging with the analysts across the department from a range of professional backgrounds, as well as working closely with policy, commercial and finance officials. There will be regular opportunities to build relationships with Arm’s Length Bodies and external sector organisations, and engage with senior stakeholders.

Please note, this role is only available on a part time basis (0.6FTE maximum) unfortunately we would be unable to offer this role on a full time basis.
As the successful candidate you will be the lead analyst steering the operational delivery and future strategy of the Sports and Culture Loans programme of work. This provides an exciting, and challenging, career step for an experienced analyst to make an impact on our country’s sports and culture sectors.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the analytical portfolio of work for the Loans team, providing strategic direction and embedding evidence-based decision-making.
- Championing programme delivery through improved use of data including: implementing programme performance management frameworks and tools, developing effective and efficient data sharing routines with delivery partners, chairing reporting and analysis working groups, and presenting insights and recommendations to senior boards.
- Directing scenario modelling and future business cases to shape departmental outcomes.
- Building strategic partnerships with policy, finance, and commercial teams, alongside executive stakeholders across Arm’s Length Bodies and wider government.
- Being an influential leader across DCMS, including, upskilling colleagues in utilising data and analysis to tell a story, and the use of analytical tools and methods. Whilst being a member of, or being eligible to become a member of, a Government Analytical Profession is not essential, we do encourage applications from all government-badged analyst professionals. We will support the successful candidate in seeking their relevant profession badging at Grade 7 level, where appropriate and where possible, once in the role.
