Summary

Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as a Medical/Clinic Coordinator and make a meaningful impact on the lives of cochlear implant and auditory implant patients. We provide vital services for severely and profoundly deaf individuals across the south of England and the Channel Islands.

USAIS is a nationally recognised centre of excellence, providing specialist assessment, surgical intervention, and lifelong support for individuals with auditory implants. Our team is passionate about enhancing quality of life through cutting-edge technology and holistic care.

About the role:

To work with the Clinic Operational and Assistant Manager, Team Leaders and clinical staff, to ensure effective management of the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) patients through the Cochlear Implant (CI) and Bone Conduction Hearing Implant (BCHI) pathway.

Act as a key operational point of contact for patients, multidisciplinary team & external organisations, primarily within the private service provision in USAIS, which includes the Private Hearing & Balance Centre (PHAB) and Self-Funded Cochlear Implant Service (SF) collectively known as AIS Plus Services.

What you will do:

Triage, coordinate, and provide accurate and timely processing of patient and clinical correspondence

Provide end-to-end support and perform administrative tasks relating to the management of patients, following correct procedures and applying a good working knowledge of complex administrative systems

Providing medical coordinator support for PHAB & ENT medical clinics

Liaise with local Allied Health Professionals, ENT services, hospital staff and clinical radiology staff regarding patient referrals, appointments, admissions, assessments, scans and image reports

What you will bring:

Relevant work experience within an administrative or customer support role, preferably in a healthcare setting or clinical environment – including experience using a Patient Administration System (PAS) or equivalent

Strong communication skills are essential, with a proven ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload

Excellent attention to detail, record keeping skills and maintenance of confidentiality for all data and patient information.

Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive working relationships

Ability to thrive and support colleagues in a busy and interactive environment in a dedicated team

Special requirements:

The maintenance of confidentiality in information and data management is mandatory, as is the ability to cross-check data from multiple sources, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy

A DBS check at Standard level is required for this role; this will be carried out by the University
