Our Client is seeking an experienced Technical Support Officer to join a busy Housing Repairs team, supporting responsive repairs across a portfolio of around 5,000 social housing properties.
This is a hands-on technical role involving property inspections, defect diagnosis, specifications, estimates and contractor management, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality repairs and excellent customer service.
If you have strong HHSRS knowledge and practical housing repairs/surveying experience, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake property inspections and surveys, identifying defects and specifying appropriate remedial works.
Prepare specifications, estimates, reports and contract documentation.
Monitor contractors and the Council’s DLO, including post-inspections and quality checks.
Provide technical advice on damp, defects, health & safety and construction works.
Manage repairs projects from initial investigation through to completion.
Liaise with residents, tenants, leaseholders, contractors and internal Housing teams.
Support compliance with CDM 2015, Health & Safety legislation and statutory requirements.
Maintain accurate repairs, stock condition and contractor records.
Essential Experience
Essential: Strong knowledge and practical experience of HHSRS.
Relevant experience in building maintenance, housing repairs or surveying.
Strong knowledge of construction defects and building pathology across domestic properties, including high-rise.
Experience preparing estimates and specifications and monitoring repair works.
Good understanding of Health & Safety and CDM 2015.
Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, particularly when dealing with residents and leaseholders.
HNC/HND in a building-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Desirable: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Experience of disrepair, EPA, Party Wall matters or Section 20 consultation would be advantageous.
