Job Description

Assistant Headteacher (Co-SENDCo,EYFS/KS1 Leader, Behaviour Lead)

Main Purpose

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher in providing strategic leadership and management across the school.

The post holder will lead EYFS and KS1, act as Co-SENDCo, lead behaviour and attitudes across the school and contribute significantly to school improvement, curriculumdevelopmentand strategic planning.

The post holder will deputise for the Headteacher whenrequired.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Support the development and implementation of the school's vision and strategic priorities.

• Contribute to self-evaluation, school improvementplanningand monitoring activities.

• Support the Headteacher in the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.

• Promote the Christian ethos and values of the school.

• Deputise for the Headteacher whenrequired.

EYFS/KS1 Leadership

• Lead the strategic development of EYFS and KS1.

• Secure high-quality teaching,learningand provision.

• Monitor standards,progressand attainment.

• Develop phase improvement plans.

• Coach, support and challenge staff to improve outcomes.

• Lead moderation and quality assurance activities.

Behaviour and Attitudes

• Lead the school's behaviour strategy.

• Ensure consistent implementation of behaviour systems and expectations.

• Monitor behavioural trends and evaluate impact.

• Support staff in managing challenging behaviours.

• Coordinate targeted interventions for pupils requiringadditionalsupport.

• Work closely with families and external agencies whereappropriate.

Co-SENDCo Responsibilities

• Jointly lead SEND provision across the school.

• Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.

• Coordinate identification,assessmentand provision for pupils with SEND.

• Monitor progress and provision maps.

• Lead Annual Reviews and EHCP processes.

• Liaise with parents, staff,governorsand external agencies.

• Support staff in implementing effective inclusive practice.

Curriculum Leadership

• Lead an agreed curriculum subject area.

• Monitor standards and provision within the subject.

• Support curriculum development and staff training.

Staff Leadership

• Linemanageidentifiedteachers and support staff.

• Conduct performance management reviews.

• Support recruitment,inductionand staff development.

Teaching and Learning

• Model consistently outstanding classroom practice.

• Maintain a teaching commitment asdeterminedannually.

• Support quality assurance through lesson visits, workscrutinyand pupil voice activities.
