A friendly and successful independent school situated on the border of Surrey and Croydon is seeking an enthusiastic
Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive team as soon as possible.
This is a full-time position offered initially on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the school’s SEND team to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and participate confidently in school life.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils with SEND inside and outside the classroom
• Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and emotional resilience
• Delivering targeted academic and pastoral interventions
• Supporting pupils’ communication, organisation and social skills
• Adapting resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
• Monitoring pupils’ progress and sharing observations with teachers and SEND professionals
• Helping teachers maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment
• Building professional and trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting the school’s wider academic and enrichment activities
• Following safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies at all times
About you
The school is particularly interested in academically accomplished graduates who have achieved a
First-Class or 2:1 degree from a Russell Group or another leading university.
The ideal candidate will:
• Hold a First-Class or 2:1 bachelor’s degree
• Ideally have studied psychology, education, neuroscience or a related subject
• Have some previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• Be considering future training as an educational psychologist or clinical psychologist
• Have a genuine interest in child development, mental health and inclusive education
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be patient, compassionate and emotionally mature
• Have strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
• Work effectively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team
• Be available to begin a full-time role as soon as possible
Experience could have been gained through a school, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, volunteering, care work or another setting supporting children and young people.
