Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Endoscopy to join the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy service at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post is a 12-month fixed-term appointment, working across Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital. The successful candidate will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, emergency endoscopy and flexible backfill of endoscopy lists, with opportunities to further develop advanced endoscopy skills.

Applicants should be experienced at Senior Clinical Fellow/registrar-equivalent level in Gastroenterology or GI Surgery and competent to independently perform diagnostic OGD and colonoscopy, with appropriate JAG/JETS certification or demonstrable equivalent competence acceptable for independent practice within BHRUT.

The post holder will work closely with Gastroenterologists, GI Surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team and contribute to audit, clinical governance, teaching, training and service development.

There will be opportunities toparticipatein audit and research activities in the GI and endoscopy unit.

In keeping with recent guidelines, the postholder will be expected to participate in the process of medical audit.

There is an active postgraduate educationcentrewith a well-stocked library. Regular meetings are held, and the appointee will be expected to attend andparticipatein the weekly Grand Round. There is a monthly clinical auditprogramme, each firm taking responsibility in rotation. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
