About the Role
Are you looking for a cleaning role in Castle Cary?
We’re inviting people to register their interest in upcoming cleaning opportunities at the Mars site in Castle Cary. We expect to have opportunities for both Cleaners and Cleaning Team Leaders, with a range of mid-week and weekend working patterns available.
Working as part of the wider facilities team, you’ll follow agreed cleaning schedules and procedures while maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety.
The roles
Cleaner
As a Cleaner, you’ll help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across the site. Your duties may include:
- Cleaning designated areas to required standards
- General cleaning, including floors and surfaces
- Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately
- Cleaning washrooms and communal areas
- Following site health, safety and hygiene procedures
- Using cleaning equipment and products safely
Cleaning Team Leader
As a Cleaning Team Leader, you’ll support the day-to-day delivery of the cleaning service while helping to lead and motivate the cleaning team. Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating cleaning activities and allocating tasks
- Supporting and supervising members of the cleaning team
- Ensuring cleaning standards are consistently maintained
- Completing relevant checks and records
- Supporting new team members
- Ensuring health, safety and site procedures are followed
- Working closely with the wider site team
What we're looking for
For both positions, we’re looking for people who are reliable, hardworking and take pride in maintaining high standards.
Previous cleaning experience would be beneficial, although this may not be essential for Cleaner positions. For Team Leader opportunities, previous supervisory or team leadership experience would be advantageous.
You'll need to be comfortable working as part of a team and following established cleaning, hygiene and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled cleaning and housekeeping duties across the site
- Clean offices, meeting rooms, manufacturing and welfare areas
- Safely use approved cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Complete cleaning schedules accurately
- Remove and correctly segregate waste in line with site procedures
- Keep cleaning cupboards clean, tidy and well stocked
- Follow COSHH, health and safety and PPE requirements
- Report any safety, quality, equipment or maintenance concerns promptly
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable with a positive and proactive approach to work
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable carrying out the physical aspects of a cleaning role
- Strong awareness of cleanliness, safety and attention to detail
- Previous cleaning experience is beneficial but not essential
- Willing to follow procedures and complete required training
