Qualification: Level 3 Early Years / Childcare - Essential
Building a tower isn't just building a tower. It's problem-solving, coordination, communication, imagination and learning what happens when things don't quite go to plan.
A conversation in the mud kitchen can develop language. Outdoor play can build confidence and physical skills. Even putting on a coat independently can be an important achievement.
A welcoming primary school in Waltham Forest is looking for a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join its Nursery and Reception team.
The school has a strong play-based EYFS ethos, excellent outdoor provision and an experienced EYFS Lead who genuinely invests in developing her team.
And importantly, they're not looking for somebody to simply cover a gap.
They want someone who could stay, develop and become part of the school.
Working across Nursery and Reception, you'll help create an environment where children aged 3-5 feel safe enough to explore, curious enough to investigate and confident enough to begin doing more for themselves.
You'll work alongside the EYFS teacher and other practitioners, supporting both planned activities and the learning that happens naturally through continuous provision.
You'll:
- Support the delivery of the EYFS framework across Nursery and Reception.
- Lead focused activities with individuals and small groups.
- Encourage learning through purposeful play and exploration.
- Make full use of indoor and outdoor continuous provision.
- Observe how children engage and use those insights to support their development.
- Encourage communication, early language and social interaction.
- Help children develop confidence and independence.
- Support personal care, wellbeing and everyday routines.
- Work individually with children who may need additional support.
- Help maintain a stimulating, safe and well-organised environment.
- Build warm, professional relationships with parents and carers.
- Work closely with the teacher and wider EYFS team.
The right person will understand how much development happens when children are given opportunities to play, communicate, investigate, move, make choices and try things for themselves.
You'll need a relevant Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification, such as CACHE, NNEB, EYE or an appropriate equivalent.
You'll also bring:
- Experience working with children aged 0-5.
- A sound understanding of the EYFS framework.
- An understanding of how young children learn through play.
- A warm and patient approach.
- The energy to get involved rather than observe from the sidelines.
- Confidence leading activities with small groups.
- Strong communication skills.
- A collaborative, team-focused attitude.
Experience within a school Nursery or Reception environment would be particularly useful.
This is what makes the opportunity particularly attractive. The school isn't just offering a long-term placement. There is a genuine route to a permanent position for the right practitioner.
You'll join an established EYFS team with a lead who invests in her staff, giving you the opportunity to continue developing your Early Years knowledge and practice.
You'll benefit from:
- A long-term role with clear permanent potential.
- A supportive and well-led EYFS team.
- Excellent outdoor learning provision.
- Access to CPD and training.
- A school that values and develops its support staff.
- A dedicated consultant who knows the school and will support you throughout your placement.
Early Years practitioners don't always get to see where the story ends, But so much of what comes later starts here.
Confidence. Communication. Curiosity. Independence. Relationships. A willingness to learn.
If you're a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner in Waltham Forest looking for somewhere you can contribute, develop and potentially build a longer-term future, we'd love to hear from you.
