Start Date: November 2026

Contract: Long-term / permanent opportunity

Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced and fully qualified SENDCO to take a key leadership role within a supportive primary school in the DE23 area of Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established SEND professional who can take ownership of SEND provision across the primary setting, while potentially providing oversight and guidance to an associated nursery site.

The successful candidate must hold the NASENCO qualification, NPQ for SENCOs, or an equivalent recognised SENDCO qualification, alongside strong practical experience of SEND provision within an educational setting.

As SENDCO, you will:

- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the primary school

- Oversee the identification, assessment and ongoing support of pupils with additional needs

- Manage and review EHCPs, SEND support plans, provision maps and individual pupil targets

- Coordinate and contribute to annual reviews and statutory SEND processes

- Ensure provision meets the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice

- Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the impact of interventions and additional provision

- Provide guidance, coaching and practical support to teachers and teaching assistants

- Work closely with parents and carers to maintain strong communication around pupil provision

- Liaise with external professionals including Educational Psychologists, SALT, local authority teams and other specialist services

- Support effective transitions between Early Years, primary phases and future settings

- Potentially provide SEND oversight and professional guidance across an associated nursery provision

- Contribute to wider school improvement and inclusive practice

- NASENCO, NPQ for SENCOs or equivalent recognised SENDCO qualification - essential

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or appropriate relevant professional qualification

- Previous experience leading or coordinating SEND provision

- Strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice

- Confident managing EHCP processes, annual reviews and provision mapping

- Experience working collaboratively with parents, external agencies and local authorities

- Strong understanding of inclusive classroom practice and effective SEND interventions

- Ability to lead, advise and develop other members of staff

- Understanding of Early Years SEND would be highly advantageous due to potential nursery oversight

- Organised, confident and capable of managing a varied SEND caseload

Please note: applications from candidates without an appropriate SENDCO qualification cannot be considered for this position.

- Supportive primary setting based in Derby, DE23

- Strong commitment to inclusive education and early intervention

- Opportunity to influence SEND strategy and provision

- Collaborative leadership and teaching team

- Potential involvement across both primary and Early Years provision

- Long-term opportunity with potential for a permanent position

- Roles focused on stability rather than day-to-day supply

- Weekly pay during temporary placement

- Dedicated consultant support throughout the recruitment process

- Access to relevant CPD and professional development

If you're an experienced and qualified SENDCO looking for a new opportunity from November, apply today with your CV.

Please ensure your NASENCO, NPQ SENCO or equivalent SENDCO qualification is clearly listed on your application.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Hannah at Long Term Futures.
