Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Therapies Team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. This role involves supporting the therapy teams to provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for a wide range of patients within the acute inpatient setting.
This role will primarily work within the medical specialties at St Helier Hospital, covering a diverse range of clinical areas including respiratory, cardiac, general medicine, and haematology. Working within these specialties offers exposure to a varied patient population and a broad range of clinical presentations, providing an excellent environment in which to develop knowledge, skills, and experience.
As an Acute Occupational Therapy Technical Assistant, you will work closely with qualified therapists to deliver hands-on patient care, supporting individuals to achieve their rehabilitation goals and maximise their independence. The role includes assisting with the assessment and treatment of patients, facilitating physical rehabilitation programmes, and supporting safe and effective discharge planning.
This is a vital role within the therapy service, contributing to the smooth running of the team and ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality care. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering person-centred care and achieving the best possible outcomes for patients.
• To work closely with the Acute Therapies team to support the smooth functioning of the service in promoting rehabilitation and timely discharges for the inpatients of St Helier Hospital.
• To provide specialist and skilled assistance in the delivery of Acute Therapy services for adults and older people.
• To plan, review and independently implement rehabilitation and enablement programs for a variety of clients in varying settings, within a defined area of competence.
• To work closely with Multidisciplinary Teams and other professionals, particularly in relation to patient mobility and enablement, including assessment for and provision of appropriate equipment, and to assist in the development of good working relationships with statutory, voluntary and independent organisations.
• To contribute to the development of this role within the Trust and Acute Therapies
• To contribute to the provision of a 7-day service by participating in weekend rotas
