Hours: 37 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts:

- 6:00am - 2:00pm

- 2:00pm - 10:00pm

We are recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a leading client within the rail rolling stock industry at their modern facility in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term contract with a well-established organisation supporting the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of mechanical fitting, maintenance and assembly activities to the highest quality and safety standards. Working as part of an experienced team, you will ensure all work is completed in line with engineering specifications and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly and maintenance tasks on rolling stock.

- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.

- Complete work to agreed quality standards and within required timescales.

- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental procedures.

- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver operational targets.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have:

- A minimum Level 2 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

- Experience working as a Mechanical Fitter within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.

- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

- A commitment to working safely and maintaining high-quality standards.

Desirable Experience

Previous rail rolling stock experience would be highly advantageous. However, we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable mechanical skills gained in industries such as:

- Aerospace / Aircraft

- Automotive

- Heavy engineering

- Manufacturing

- Defence

- Plant or industrial maintenance
