Summary

Roy Dyke Electrical Limited is an established NICEIC Approved Contractor based in Bilston. We are recruiting four emergency lighting engineers or electricians for temporary emergency lighting testing and replacement work across the wider Staffordshire area.

We welcome applicants from an emergency lighting (BS 5266) or combined fire alarm and emergency lighting background who hold the required emergency lighting course certificate, 18th Edition and safe isolation training. An ECS Gold Card is not essential.

Pay: £24 per hour, based on a 40-hour week (£960 per week before deductions).

Duration: 3–6 months, full-time temporary employment.

Start: November 2026, with the exact date to be agreed. We are recruiting ahead of an upcoming emergency lighting contract so we can assess suitability, verify qualifications and complete the necessary vetting before the contract goes live.

The work includes:

- Emergency lighting inspection, functional and full-duration testing.

- Replacing faulty emergency luminaires, batteries and associated components.

- Fault diagnosis, defect reporting and remedial work within your assessed competence, with appropriate electrical testing and certification.

- Recording results, defects and completed work accurately using electronic job records.

- Travelling between sites, managing vehicle stock and providing a professional service to customers.

You must be confident working independently and have a full driving licence valid in the UK. We can provide a company van or agree mileage payments if you use your own vehicle, which must be suitable for the work and for safely carrying tools, equipment and replacement fittings.

We provide tools and equipment, paid holiday pro rata and support with necessary checks and training. We can arrange and fund Enhanced DBS checks and asbestos awareness and working-at-height training for suitable candidates who need these. Sites include schools and other public buildings, and appropriate checks will be completed before deployment.

There may be an opportunity for two suitable engineers to move into permanent roles following the temporary period, subject to workload and mutual agreement.
