Summary

Poultry Laying Farm Manager

The Job:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Poultry Farm Manager to take responsibility for a 24,000-bird parent stock laying unit across two sheds in West Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced poultry professional to take ownership of an established operation, with responsibility for flock performance, bird welfare, biosecurity and overall farm standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the day to day operation of the 24,000 bird parent stock laying unit

- Maintain high standards of bird welfare, flock health, biosecurity and cleanliness

- Monitor flock performance, production and egg quality, identifying and addressing issues promptly

- Manage feed, water, ventilation, lighting and environmental conditions to optimise flock performance

- Maintain accurate farm records and monitor key performance indicators

- Work closely with vets, nutritionists and the wider farming team

- Manage and motivate farm staff where required

- Ensure sheds, equipment and the wider farm are maintained to a high standard

- Maintain safe working practices and ensure company procedures and industry standards are followed

The Company:

An established poultry farming operation with a strong focus on flock performance, animal welfare, biosecurity and high standards of farm management.

The Candidate

- Previous commercial laying or parent stock experience is preferred, although strong poultry farm management experience from other sectors will be considered

- Experience with breeders, broilers or other commercial poultry operations would be advantageous

- Strong understanding of poultry husbandry, flock health, welfare and biosecurity

- Confident taking responsibility for flock performance and maintaining high farm standards

- Organised, reliable and capable of working independently and making sound decisions

- Practical and hands-on, with the ability to manage and motivate others

- Good communicator with a genuine commitment to high standards of bird welfare and farm management

The Package

- Salary £35,000 DOE

- £15,000 per annum accommodation allowance

- Responsibility for a 24,000-bird parent stock laying unit

- Key role within an established poultry farming operation

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
