Your Role

Working as part of our Digital, Data and Technology teams, the post holder will manage and deliver projects that support Directorate priorities and the Council’s wider transformation programme. This will involve working collaboratively with Heads of Service, Programme Managers, Strategic Digital Business Partners, service designers, business analysts and other change colleagues to engage the right teams at the right time, build effective relationships and ensure projects are delivered in line with organisational priorities.

This role requires an in-depth knowledge of Project and/or Programme management.

Key Activities include:

  • Managing complex Transformation Projects in an open and transparent way.
  • Development and maintenance of detailed project documentation such as; The Business Case, Project Plan, RAID log, Highlight Report etc.
  • Co-ordinating the project team and project meetings, identifying clear roles and responsibilities and proactively unblocking work that may be stuck in delivery
  • Proactively running retrospectives/lessons learned activities in a manner that invites open and honest feedback to ensure projects are delivered effectively
  • Where appropriate gather project requirements through; workshop facilitation, one-to-one meetings, or surveys etc.
  • Reporting or translating complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to colleagues at all levels.
  • Building and maintaining professional working relationships across multiple service areas/ organisations
  • Proactively sharing your learning at the Project Management Community of Practice.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Delivery Manager who can bring strong project management expertise, confidence and a collaborative approach to the delivery of digital and transformation projects across the Council. You will have experience of managing projects from inception through to delivery, balancing time, quality, resources and risk while keeping people engaged and focused on the outcomes that matter.

The successful candidate will either hold a relevant project management qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in a project, delivery or transformation role. Experience of managing digital projects, IT system operations, service design or business analysis would be beneficial. Most importantly, you will be flexible, inclusive and committed to working in line with Stockport Council’s values, keeping residents at the heart of what we do, succeeding as one team, driving things forward with ambition and showing respect to colleagues, partners and customers.
