Summary

Main Duties and Responsibilities Prescription Administration Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice procedures. Check and prepare prescription requests for clinician authorisation. Deal with routine prescription queries and liaise with pharmacies where appropriate. Maintain accurate prescription records and monitor outstanding requests. Escalate medication queries or concerns requiring clinical judgement to an appropriate clinician. Work within Practice prescribing policies and procedures. Administration Provide general administrative support to the Practice and clinical team. Process correspondence, documents, scanning and electronic records. Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic information. Undertake data entry, searches, audits and other administrative tasks. Assist with patient registrations and other Practice processes. Manage incoming and outgoing post and electronic communications. Provide administrative cover and support colleagues as required. Reception Provide a friendly, professional and courteous reception service. Deal with patient enquiries face-to-face, by telephone and electronically. Book, cancel and rearrange appointments in accordance with Practice procedures. Register patients and maintain accurate patient information. Take and communicate messages appropriately. Signpost patients to appropriate services within Practice guidelines. Deal professionally with challenging or sensitive situations. Recognise and escalate urgent or clinical matters appropriately. General Responsibilities Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR, NHS Information Governance and Practice policies. Follow safeguarding, health and safety and infection prevention procedures. Work effectively as part of the wider Practice team. Maintain a high standard of accuracy, professionalism and patient service. Participate in training, appraisal and Practice development activities. Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Practice Manager. The duties outlined above are not exhaustive and may be amended in line with the changing needs of the Practice.
