You will be able to find a full Job Description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents, or please click "Apply Now" to view these in Trac The Senior Screening Nurse will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of Lung Screening Wales, supporting the Programme Lead Nurse inestablishingand maintaining a high-quality, participant-centred service. Initially, the focus of the role will be on supporting the planning and operational delivery of the programme, including the recruitment, induction,trainingand supervision of a new team. The post holder will contribute to the development of clinical pathways, standard operatingproceduresand quality assurance processes to support the safe and effective implementation of the service. Once operational, the Senior Screening Nurse will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Risk Assessment Team, supporting Healthcare Support Workers undertaking telephone-based participant assessments todetermineeligibility for lung cancer screening. The post holder will ensure assessments are completed in line with programme standards and willprovideclinical guidance,adviceand supervision. The Senior Screening Nurse will undertake and oversee the clinical review of participant risk assessments anddetermineeligibility for screening. Acting as a Non-Medical Referrer, the post holder willbe responsible forreferring eligible participants for Low Dose CT (LDCT) screeningin accordance withagreed protocols and pathways. The post holder will support the Programme Lead Nurse in monitoring performance against programme standards. They willidentifyopportunities for service improvement, implement changes to practice whererequired, and contribute to the production of reports and performance information. The role will involve delivering education and training programmes for staff, assessing competence, supporting professionaldevelopmentand promoting a positive learning culture. The Senior Screening Nurse will act as a role model for clinical practice,leadershipand professional standards. The post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Lung Screening Wales pathway, including Clinical Nurse Specialists across Health Boards in Wales, to support pathway delivery,facilitateeffective communication and promote the sharing of best practice. As a national programme role, occasional travel to hospitals, mobile CT unitsand healthcare sites across Wales will berequired. The post holder will also be expected to provide support across Screening Services asrequired. This is a hybrid role, working in a flexible manner, however it is essential that the post holderis able totravel to sites across Wales asrequired. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
