Summary

We are Guys and St Thomas's renal technology department. We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our team of qualified renal technicians. Our department is responsible for maintaining dialysis machines and water purification plants which together form an essential life sustaining therapy for our dialysis patients. We provide a high-quality support service which is appreciated by our end users. This role offers a wide range of challenges as well as varied locations.

You will need to be self-motivated with practical skills and be an inquisitive problem solver. We have sites across London and the South East of England. Overtime will occasionally be available at weekends

Applicants  will have a degree or equivalent qualifications in electronic engineering , working as part of the technical team the main duties of the role would be to repair and service  dialysis machines, water plant and associated equipment,  Due to the nature and size of the service you will require a full driving licence.

We are a small team supporting a busy renal department working for a leading London NHS Hospital Trust. The department currently supports 7 renal  satellite units, including a unit on Guernsey, we have an active and expanding home haemodialysis patient population across the South East. We currently look after 200+ haemodialysis machines which support over 800 patients receiving haemodialysis treatment.

Department Information

 The directorate of Transplant, Renal and Urology (TR&U) is one of the largest directorates at Guy’s and St Thomas’ (GSTT) with an income budget of approximately £90 million, employing 530 members of staff. The directorate provides specialist, tertiary referral services to the population of South East London, and West Kent, specialising in renal and pancreatic transplant, robotic surgery, dialysis and acute kidney disease, lithotripsy, laser prostate procedures, functional urology. The directorate also provides local services to the populations of Lambeth and Southwark. Based on the Guy’s Hospital campus of GSTT

The department of Renal Technical Services predominantly supports the large GSTT dialysis service with hospital and satellite services covering South East London, West Kent and the Channel Islands. The Renal Unit provides dialysis support for a large number of patients across the region, with the technical team ensuring that equipment is in working order, ensuring the clinical service is safely delivered and that operational issues can be addressed as quickly as possible. The team also provides responsible oversight to the Urology decontamination service ensuring that the processes employed adhere to national and Trust standards and guidance. The team also work closely with the Urology department to ensure medical equipment is adequately maintained and managed effectively.
