Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-established secondary school in Wigan to recruit an experienced Exams Officer for a long-term temporary assignment starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive administration team and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of all internal and external examinations throughout the academic year.
Your new role
As the school's Exams Officer, you will take responsibility for the planning, organisation, and administration of the examination process, ensuring compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing all aspects of internal and external examinations
- Liaising with examination boards regarding entries, amendments, and results
- Producing examination timetables and rooming schedules
- Recruiting, organising, and managing exam invigilators
- Ensuring exam materials are securely stored and distributed
- Coordinating access arrangements and special consideration applications
- Managing coursework and controlled assessment submissions
- Processing examination results and supporting post-results services
- Maintaining accurate records in line with JCQ regulations
- Working closely with senior leaders, SEND staff, students, and parents regarding examination arrangements
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience as an Exams Officer within a secondary school
- Strong knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination processes
- Experience using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or similar
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Hays
