Team members develop a broad range of skills, including advanced assessment, decision-making, communication, and care coordination. Candidates will work within a supportive and knowledgeable team, gain exposure to a variety of surgical specialties, and contribute directly to providing safe, high-quality patient care. For individuals who enjoy autonomy, problem-solving, and helping patients navigate their treatment journey, pre-assessment is an excellent career choice. All applicants are required to have current UK NMC registration, with evidence of registrant clinical practice in the UK, or be a final-year nursing student studying in the UK. What you will bring to the role To provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care. To deliver care without supervision. To take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse. To participate in the in-service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students. To take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients. To promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care. To maintain personal development. Qualifications Essential Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or 2) Has current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register Experience Essential Experience in acute hospital or surgical care settings. Excellent communication and patient assessment skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience Desirable Previous pre-assessment experience. Venepuncture and ECG competency. Knowledge of elective surgical pathways. Skills and Behaviours Essential Ability to act professionally at all times. Effective communication skills. Effective numeracy skills e.g. accurate drug calculations. Ability to organise self and others. Teaching and assessing skills Team player. Effective time management skills Skills and Behaviours Desirable Venepuncture and ECG skills Other Requirements Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post.
