Summary

Communication and Relationship SkillsProvide a role model for others in the delivery of high-quality clinical care and be reliable and consistent in own approach to work commitments.Ensure clear communications strategies are in place for the dissemination of information to the team within defined clinical area.Communicate complex information across organisational boundaries to ensure the understanding of patient health needs, service development requirements and provision.Maintain effective communication both within and outside the clinical team to ensure that patient needs are met by the most appropriate agency.Effectively communicate verbally, in written and electronic format.Maintain contemporaneous clinical records in line with Community Division/ CYP&F / Trust clinical records policies.Carry out your duties in a way that supports the Trust values in all participation with patients, carers, work colleagues, people in other organisations and members of the public.Work within the requirements of the CYP&F CYPMHS instructions and policies. Analytical and Judgmental SkillsBe vigilant to service needs and prioritise unpredictable issues that require sustained attention despite competing issues.Ensure that there is a clearly defined model of care and that all staff understand and can articulate how the model affects their practice.Be responsible for dealing with formal and informal complaints in line with the Trust and local procedure for managing complaints. Planning and Organisational SkillsResponsible for the line management of the team within CYPMHS, this will include the development of clear leadership and supervision arrangements.Develop and use flexible and innovative approaches to practice that are appropriate to the needs of the patient group, and which are in line with the goals of the Trust.Ensure clinical standards are developed and maintained and that corrective action is taken where practice falls short of the desired standard. Patient/Client CareManage care packages including holistic assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation of complex care packages, utilising recognised models and tools.Provide relevant clinical information, education and support children and young people, family members, carers and other relevant professionals.Work in partnership with other health & social care / multidisciplinary team colleagues, voluntary and statutory organisations to ensure that the health and socialcare needs of the service users in CYPMHS are identified.Ensure all aspects of Care are delivered to the highest possible standard.Be the primary contact for clinical issues including the coordination and facilitation of responses to concerns, incident reports and complaints and requirements forperformance information. Responsibilities for Policy and Service DevelopmentParticipate and contribute to the management of infection control.Actively participate and contribute to CYPMHS service development and delivery.Actively participate and contribute to the national clinical networks.Actively promote the clear articulation of MCTs core values within CYPMHSAssist with the development and implementation of local CYPMHS policies for the delivery of services in line with relevant NHS Quality Network standards, ensuring that they state what is expected of staff and the standard of service to be delivered to patients.Ensure the implementation of agreed clinical governance and assurance processes are embedded within the team.In conjunction with the Clinical Service Manager and Head of Operations identify practice development initiatives and take responsibility for their effective implementation. Responsibilities for FinanceEnsure systems are in place to regularly monitor the budget within area of responsibility.Predict and report on trends/potential deficits to the Clinical Service Manager.Account for the delivery of a balanced budget at the end of the financial year by making effective and efficient use of resources. Adhere to and ensure compliance withthe financial guidance provided within the Trust Budget Pack. Responsibilities for the workforceTo ensure the effective management of sickness and absence, leave allocation, disciplinary investigations, complaints and local post incident reviews.Demonstrate high-level managerial and clinical decision-making skills providing a diverse range of specialist clinical care, underpinned by dence-based theory.Assume responsibility for the provision of services in the CYPMHS in the absence of the operational manager and/or Clinical Service Manager delegating assessment and provision of individual patient programmes of care according to the team members clinical skills and competency.Be responsible for ensuring an effective programme of induction for all new staff working within the defined clinical area is delivered.Ensure all staff receive effective management and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust and locally agreed standards.Maintain a high standard of safety, safeguarding the welfare of patients and staff in accordance with Trust requirements and Health and Safety legislation.Be involved in the recruitment and selection, deployment and supervision of staff within area of responsibility. Ensure that appropriate staffing levels and skill mix are available to meet the changing needs of the service.Ensure all staff have a personnel file which is up to date and accessible and that records within are reviewed and maintained regularly.Be responsible for ensuring robust systems are in place to monitor sickness and absence and ensure that contact is maintained with staff who are on sick leave and that staff returning from sick leave receive appropriate support and return to work interview with appropriate documentation.Be responsible for an effective system for ensuring that individual PACE plans for staff are delivered within defined area of responsibility.Participate in a regular review of own performance and agree personal objectives and development needs with Operational Manager.Actively contribute to the development and delivery of training programmes for staff.Ensure staffs within area of responsibility comply with Trust and Service Mandatory training requirements.Demonstrate an understanding of the L&OD requirements within the service and be responsible for ensuring that personal development plans, acknowledge and reflect the requirements for the model of care utilised within the post holders area of responsibility.Be responsible for ensuring that the skills and expertise of staff within area of responsibility are reviewed regularly and that deficits are addressed via appropriate training.Identify own learning needs, in consultation with your line manager, and attend relevant courses and study days to enhance personal development.Attend and actively participate in an annual PACE review. Responsibility for Information ResourcesCollect and report statistical and other data as required for performance indicators (Trust).Ensure a timely response to requests for reports or information from line manager and others. Provide information of a high standard.Promote and facilitate quality initiatives in line with the requirements of the services agreed objectives and performance frameworks and locally agreed practice development projects.Maintain awareness of all documentation, instructions and orders and contingency plans relating to the establishment.Ensure consistency and compliance with security arrangements. Research and DevelopmentBe responsible for aspects of clinical and service audits within the defined area of responsibility within the respective area of practice.Support team members to develop research awareness skills.Initiate, facilitate, manage and evaluate change in practice to improve quality of patient care.Assist in undertaking practice placement audits as requested by academic institutions. Freedom to ActUphold all aspects of the Trusts policies and procedures, and any legal requirements in relation to personal and professional conduct.Carry out such other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time across the division to ensure key priorities and objectives are delivered.
