Tired of London rents and a long journey to work? Seaview Haven is a 72-bed residential care home in Ilfracombe, a harbour town on the North Devon coast where the South West Coast Path runs past the front door and Exmoor National Park is on the doorstep.

We are looking for a Cook to join our kitchen team – and we can help with somewhere to live while you settle in. If you cook in a hotel, restaurant, school or care setting and want daytime hours, a better quality of life and a job where your food matters to the people eating it every day, we would love to hear from you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our kitchen prepares fresh, home-cooked meals for our residents every day – breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks. As Cook you will:

- Plan and cook nutritious, appetising meals from a rotating menu, using fresh ingredients

- Cater for special diets, including diabetic, soft, pureed and fortified meals, and for residents' preferences and allergies

- Run the kitchen on shift, supervising kitchen assistants and keeping service to time

- Keep the kitchen clean, safe and compliant, maintaining food safety records under our HACCP-based system

- Manage stock, ordering and rotation, and keep to budget

- Work with the care team so that residents get the food, portion and consistency that is right for them

- Take a genuine interest in residents' enjoyment of their meals – special occasions, themed meals and requests included
