Summary
Luma Education Recruitment are working with an excellent and highly regarded secondary school in LU3, Luton, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an impressive school with a passionate, supportive team and a strong commitment to pupil development. You’ll work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support and help pupils engage positively with education.
The role would suit someone with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or within a SEND/SEMH setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils
Support pupils with SEND, SEMH, emotional and behavioural needs
Help students access lessons and engage with the curriculum
Build positive relationships through consistency, patience and clear boundaries
Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence
Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people in an education or support setting
A calm, patient and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
SEND, SEMH, behaviour or pastoral experience is desirable
