Production Supervisor – Afternoon Shift

Kemetyl UK Ltd is looking for an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to take responsibility for our afternoon production shift at our growing manufacturing facility in Nottingham.

This is a key hands-on leadership position within our production operation.

You will be responsible for running the 2:00pm–10:00pm shift, leading the production team and ensuring the day's manufacturing plan is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy production environment, making decisions, solving problems and setting high standards for their team.

The Role

As Afternoon Shift Production Supervisor, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of production during your shift.

You will lead a team of Production Operatives across our manufacturing and filling lines and work closely with the Production Manager to ensure production plans, quality standards and site expectations are consistently achieved.

Your responsibilities will include:

Taking overall responsibility for production during the afternoon shift

Leading, organising and motivating the afternoon production team

Allocating employees across production and filling lines

Ensuring the daily production plan and required output are achieved

Monitoring line performance, efficiency and downtime

Coordinating product and packaging changeovers

Ensuring production lines are correctly set up and operated

Maintaining high standards of product quality throughout the shift

Ensuring all required quality checks are completed correctly

Ensuring batch records and production documentation are accurate and complete

Ensuring manufacturing procedures and work instructions are followed

Maintaining high standards of health & safety and ensuring PPE requirements are followed

Maintaining excellent housekeeping and workplace standards

Identifying and resolving production problems during the shift

Escalating engineering, maintenance or quality issues when required

Supporting and training Production Operatives

Managing breaks, staffing and workflow throughout the shift

Addressing poor performance, behaviour or standards appropriately

Supporting new starters and ensuring they are trained correctly

Communicating clearly with the Production Manager and wider site team

Providing an effective end-of-shift handover, including production performance, downtime, quality issues and outstanding actions

This is a hands-on supervisory position. We are looking for someone who will be visible on the production floor, understand what is happening across the shift and lead their team from the front.

What We're Looking For

We want someone who can take genuine ownership of the afternoon shift.

You should be organised, confident and comfortable making decisions in a manufacturing environment. You will need to maintain standards even when production is busy and be prepared to challenge issues rather than simply work around them.

You should have:

Previous supervisory or team leader experience within manufacturing or production

Experience managing and motivating a production team

A strong understanding of health & safety in a manufacturing environment

A strong approach to quality and attention to detail

Good organisational and planning skills

The ability to manage production priorities and changing demands

Confidence making decisions and dealing with problems during the shift

Good practical problem-solving ability

Strong communication skills

The ability to follow and enforce procedures and standards

Good computer and production administration skills

A reliable, professional and accountable approach to work

A hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team when required

Experience within chemical manufacturing, liquid filling, FMCG, automotive products or a similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

Forklift experience and relevant manufacturing, leadership or health & safety qualifications would also be beneficial.

What We Offer

£35,000 annual starting salary, paid monthly.

You'll work a consistent Monday to Friday, 2:00pm–10:00pm afternoon shift, with your weekends free.

There may also be opportunities for overtime and additional earnings.

You'll receive full training on Kemetyl's products, manufacturing processes and systems and will work closely with our Production Manager and wider management team.
