Summary

Safeguarding & Wellbeing Link Member – ROC College

Education Governing Committee

Remote | Devon or Cornwall based

Four 2-hour committee meetings per year | 2-year minimum term

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Safeguarding & Wellbeing Link Member to join the Education Governing Committee at ROC College and provide specialist expertise and independent oversight of safeguarding, learner wellbeing and welfare.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring effective safeguarding arrangements are in place, regulatory requirements are met and a strong culture of safeguarding exists across the College.

Working alongside the Committee and Designated Safeguarding Lead, you’ll provide constructive challenge, review safeguarding information and help ensure risks are identified, monitored and effectively managed.

What we’re looking for

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience or expertise in safeguarding, child protection, adult safeguarding or learner wellbeing
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within education, health, social care or related sectors
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills, with the confidence to provide constructive challenge
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Integrity, discretion and a commitment to confidentiality
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a diverse committee
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion and learner wellbeing
  • A willingness to undertake relevant safeguarding and governance training

Desirable experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL
  • Safeguarding within further education, SEND or specialist education
  • Social work, health, youth work or social care
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Inspection, audit, quality assurance or compliance
  • Governance, trustee or committee roles
  • Lived experience of disability, autism or learning disabilities
