Summary

As a Band 6 District Nursing Sister with the CSP qualification within the Evening and Overnight District Nursing Service for Central Manchester you will provide high quality, autonomous nursing care to patients in their own homes. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate treatment while promoting independence and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide clinical leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students. You will work with GPs, OOH GPs, ambulance service, hospices, other community teams as well as patients family and carers.

The post requires excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills, together with the ability to work independently and able to prioritise the workload.

The hours are either 17:30 - 23:30, 18:00 - 00:00. You may be asked to do a night shift with notice which is 22:30 - 08:00.

The role involves leading the evening & OOHs district nursing team, responding to urgent referrals and making informed clinical decisions in a variety of community settings. You will undertake palliative and end of life care, catheter and medication management whilst supporting patients with long term conditions.

Coordinate and prioritise the evening caseload to ensure timely and safe delivery of care.

We cover a large geographical area so being able to drive and have use of a car is essential for this job role.

Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
