Working at our farms can mean a variety of jobs. We start preparing the site new crops in January and work right through to December when the last of the glasshouse are picked. Glasshouse and tunnel building (gutters, heating and irrigation pipes installation, covering floor etc). Work is a mixture of plant husbandry (cutting runners, tucking, cleaning plants, weeding), planting, picking, manual labour and packing, heavy lifting, cover/uncover tunnels, maintenance of glasshouses, tunnels and mobile homes. We build up teams of staff for each of these areas and the teams are led by supervisors.
Production is in both glasshouse and polytunnels; all our strawberries grow on table-tops which makes them easier to work on and to pick.
All our berries are chilled, packed and labelled in our own pack house facility in Hempnall.
