East Lothian Council is looking for a highly motivated and compassionate Community Protection Officer (Mediation) to join our Protective Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in mediation, conflict resolution, community engagement or housing-related services to play a key role in helping residents resolve disputes and improving community wellbeing.

As part of our Community Protection Team, you will deliver a community mediation service, support early intervention approaches to neighbour disputes, assist with anti-social behaviour investigations, and work collaboratively with a wide range of partners to help create safer and stronger communities across East Lothian

Please Note:

Job Details

To actively contribute to achieving the aim of Protective Services in promoting, protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellbeing of people living, working and spending time in East Lothian and to support Council Services in managing the risks associated with delivering and maintaining services in our local communities.

To assist and positively support the Team Leader in carrying out the delegated duties undertaken within the Community Protection Team in relation to;

• The delivery of a community mediation service.

• Using early intervention methods to resolve neighbour disputes.

• Assisting with investigations in relation to anti-social behaviour.

Have a key role in providing an effective integrated approach to reducing anti-social behaviour in our communities and promoting a high quality environment in East Lothian.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications

Educated to HNC level or equivalent level in mediation, conflict resolution or a related subject.

Driving Licence

As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance

This role requires

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be

required prior to commencement.
