We are looking for two enthusiastic Community Development Officers to join East Lothian's Community WellBeing Service in Fa'side. We are advertising two 14 hour per week posts to support specific elements of Community Development Officer work, such as youth work or community asset transfer engagement work in Fa'side. The elements of work will be determined on the skill set and experience of the candidates applying. The posts are temporary for a fixed term of 3 months, due to the secondment of the existing Community Development Officer. The posts are subject to ending early or being extended dependent on the existing post holders secondment. Both posts will be based face to face from our local office in Fa'side (Tranent).

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in a fantastic local community in East Lothian. You will do this by connecting with our local communities, working with them and a range of partners and stakeholders, to facilitate and support the delivery of local priorities contained in the Fa'side Area Partnership - area plan, our service plan and the Local Outcome Improvement Plan (26-36). This will allow the successful candidate to empower our local communities and work preventively to help reduce inequalities and tackle the impacts of poverty.

We hope to undertake interviews with candidates on Thursday 24th September 2026 (or earlier if possible) at the George Johnstone Centre, 35 Winton Place, Tranent, EH33 1AE and start dates in the role beginning the following week or start of October.

INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY / SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

Applications for this post will only be accepted from current employees of East Lothian Council (this includes casual and agency staff who are currently undertaking work for us). Any current employee wishing to apply for this temporary post as a secondment should discuss it with their current line manager in the first instance.
