Summary

What youll do. To work as an independent Practitioner under the supervision of the Senior Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Case Manager or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP) This role involves undertaking competency-based patient assessment and examination in order to formulate a management plan for specific groups of patients admitted to UHS for surgical and cardiology pre-operative assessment. The cardiac pre-assessment nurse is expected to undertake all preparatory work prior to the patient undergoing surgical and cardiology intervention which may include consent, request of any further investigations and to highlight any potential complications to the Senior Nurse Practitioner / Nurse case manager or relevant medical colleague. The post holder will ideally have experience of supporting patients with Cardiovascular & Thoracic disease within primary or secondary care. They will need to be adaptable and flexible and work in varied environments across organisational boundaries. You will require a flexible approach to working patterns and will be required to work to a rota and completed of all Nurse Practitioner competencies including History Taking and Physical Examination.
