2X Teaching Assistant – SENDPermanent | Term time only – 37 weeks per year30.5 hours per weekGrade 4, Point 3: £25,480 FTEActual salary: £17,459 per annumStart date: As soon as possibleHelp us make a lasting difference to our studentsBlenheim High School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join our experienced and supportive SEND team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to play a meaningful role in helping students with special educational needs and disabilities access the curriculum, develop their independence and achieve their potential.Working closely with our SENDCo, Deputy SENDCo and teaching staff, you will provide academic, practical and emotional support to individuals and small groups of students. You will help create an inclusive and encouraging learning environment in which every student feels supported and able to succeed.The roleThe successful candidate will:Support individuals and small groups of students in lessons and through targeted interventionsHelp students access the curriculum by preparing and adapting learning materialsProvide appropriate encouragement, reassurance and personal supportPromote students’ confidence, independence and engagement in learningMonitor, assess and record students’ progress and the support providedContribute to reviews and professional discussions about students’ needs and progressWork collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team and other professionalsLiaise with primary schools to support students’ transition into Year 7Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtime, when requiredSupport the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all studentsThe successful candidateWe are looking for someone who:Is passionate about helping young people succeedIs patient, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with studentsRemains calm and professional when faced with challenging situationsHas strong communication and organisational skillsWorks effectively and collaboratively as part of a teamHas good literacy and numeracy skillsIs reliable, adaptable and willing to take a flexible, can-do approachIs committed to inclusion, safeguarding and high expectations for all studentsIs enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the schoolExperience of working in a school, teaching assistant, nursing, caring or welfare role would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and good ICT skills.
