Summary

Hazel Tree Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Wigan, supporting learners with a range of additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring, patient and experienced TA who has a strong background in supporting blind or visually impaired learners and is confident using Braille.

The Role

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to learners, helping them access their education, develop independence and engage positively within the classroom and wider school environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working with blind or visually impaired learners

The ability to read Braille confidently

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

A patient, calm and nurturing approach

The ability to adapt communication and learning resources to meet individual needs

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A genuine commitment to supporting learners to achieve their potential

Requirements

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Two suitable references, including your most recent employer where applicable

Right to work in the UK

Previous experience working within an education or SEND environment

Demonstrable experience supporting blind/visually impaired learners

Ability to read Braille
