About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Mobile HGV Technician to provide servicing, maintenance, inspections and repair services at customer locations across the North of England.
Operating from a fully equipped Mobile Service Unit, you will be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to high standards of safety, compliance and reliability while providing excellent customer service.
The role offers flexibility around start times and would ideally suit a candidate based around Warrington or the North West, as the Mobile Service Unit will need to be collected and returned at the end of each shift.
Key Responsibilities
Mobile Maintenance & Repair
- Travel to customer locations to carry out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities to maximise vehicle uptime.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
- Attend breakdowns and undertake roadside or site-based repairs where appropriate.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for DVSA annual testing and ensure they remain compliant with roadworthiness requirements.
Customer Service
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers.
- Provide clear updates regarding repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Advise customers of additional defects and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Act as a professional representative of the business at all times.
Administration & Compliance
- Complete service sheets, inspection reports, defect reports and maintenance records accurately using company systems and mobile technology.
- Ensure all work complies with DVSA requirements, manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
- Adhere to company Health & Safety standards and safe working practices.
Mobile Service Unit Management
- Maintain stock levels, tools and equipment within the Mobile Service Unit.
- Ensure the Mobile Service Unit remains clean, organised and operational.
- Report equipment defects and replacement requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across mobile operations.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience in HGV, trailer or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- Good understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, vehicle electrics and pneumatic systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and Health & Safety compliance.
