Summary

Democratic Services Officer

Starting salary between £34581 and £41673 per annum

Full Time – 37 hours per week

Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn with hybrid working

Do you enjoy being at the heart of things, bringing order to busy meetings, working with people and making sure important decisions are clearly recorded and actioned? If you are highly organised, confident communicating with a range of people and interested in how local decisions are made, this could be the ideal role for you.

As a Democratic Services Officer, you will play an important part in supporting the Council’s democratic arrangements. You will help meetings run smoothly, support transparent decision-making and provide Members and officers with the governance and procedural support they need in a varied and interesting role.

You will coordinate, prepare and clerk a range of Council meetings, including Committees, Panels, Task Groups, Member meetings and internal meetings. This will include collating reports, preparing and circulating agendas, advising on procedure, drafting minutes, monitoring actions and helping to maintain effective and transparent decision records.

You may already have experience in democratic services, committee administration, governance or local government, but we would also welcome applicants with strong administrative, meeting support, report coordination or public service experience. You will need excellent attention to detail, political awareness and the confidence to work with elected Members and senior officers. Some meetings take place in the evening and hybrid working is available for up to two days per week, subject to meeting commitments and office cover.
