Summary

This role is for candidates looking to specialise themselves within the diabetes specialist nursing mainly the in-patients services. We are at the forefront of advances in diabetes care and provide number of specialist services. The Diabetes centre at CHFT deliver specialist diabetes care to people with complex needs which includes running weekly Antenatal clinics, weekly foot clinics, insulin pump clinics, Transition clinics and providing excellent in-patient diabetes services. We work very closely with all the members of the multi-disciplinary team which includes Diabetes consultants, Renal & Surgical consultants, diabetes dietitians and our diabetes foot team. We are a well-established DAFNE and Insulin Pump Centre and providing integrated diabetes services, working in close partnership with our Primary Care Team. The diabetes in-patient service continues to expand in response to the increasing number of people with diabetes. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed nurse who wishes to extend their expertise in this field and be a part of this innovative service. A commitment to further learning and development is required. Applicants must be a Level 1 registered nurse. Experience in care of people with diabetes is desirable, however not essential. The role will require the successful applicant to become proficient in assessment, counselling and teaching skills. The successful candidate must be passionate about working together with people with diabetes and their families. You will also provide comprehensive, evidence-based diabetes care for people with diabetes mainly Inpatients and support health care professionals. You must be able to support the implementation of changes in practice and have the ability to work collaboratively at all levels and across disciplines and agencies. You will need to be passionate about nursing and the important contribution nurses make for patients, carers and family.
