Summary

The post holder will undertake the full range of duties expected of a General Practitioner working within primary care. In accordance with the agreed practice timetable, responsibilities will include: Providing face-to-face, telephone and, where appropriate, digital consultations. Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions. Triaging patients and making autonomous clinical decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by another healthcare professional. Undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate. Participating in the duty doctor rota, managing urgent clinical queries and same-day demand. Reviewing, authorising and signing repeat prescriptions and responding to medication-related queries. Reviewing and actioning pathology and investigation results in a timely manner. Preparing accurate and timely referrals to NHS, private and voluntary sector services as appropriate. Completing medical reports, insurance reports, medical examinations and other clinical documentation within agreed timescales. Maintaining accurate, clear and contemporaneous electronic clinical records using EMIS Web in accordance with professional and legal standards. Prescribing safely and cost-effectively in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance. Supporting clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and the collection of data where required. Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care. Undertaking any additional duties appropriate to the role, knowledge, skills and experience of the post holder, as agreed with the Partners, to meet the evolving needs of the practice. Professional Responsibilities The post holder will: Comply with all practice policies, procedures, national guidance and statutory requirements. Maintain a commitment to lifelong learning, continuing professional development, annual appraisal and GMC revalidation. Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service evaluation and the continuous improvement of patient care. Promote evidence-based practice and support the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare. Contribute to the ongoing development and effective use of electronic patient records and clinical systems. Attend and participate in mandatory training, practice meetings, educational events and multidisciplinary meetings as required. Complete medical reports and other professional documentation in a timely manner. Maintain professional standards of behaviour, confidentiality and communication at all times. Present a professional appearance and adhere to the practice dress code. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the practice and may be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the role.
