Luma Education Recruitment are working with a secondary school in Luton to recruit a caring, resilient and experienced SEMH Behaviour Mentor / Pastoral Support Assistant.

The role involves supporting young people experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, helping them overcome barriers to learning, manage their behaviour and re-engage positively with education.

This opportunity would suit candidates with experience in SEMH, behaviour support, pastoral care, youth work, Teaching Assistant roles or alternative provision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

• Help students develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour

• Build positive relationships through consistency, trust and clear boundaries

• Encourage engagement with learning and support reintegration into lessons

• Work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to provide targeted support

Requirements:

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs

• Calm and confident approach to challenging behaviour

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Patient, resilient and consistent approach

• TeamTeach, PRICE or de-escalation training desirable
