Summary

We are looking for an trainee psychotherapist   with experience working with children under 5 years of age and their families to work in the CAMHS Inner London Under 5s Team.

The post holder will be embedded within our community services’ multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the support of children and their families through initial assessment, consultation and intervention. The post holder will work alongside and assist with the clinical management of clients as agreed by the MDTs:

By assisting with the planning of clients’ treatment/care & support by undertaking psychological assessments for psychological interventions offered in groups and individually.

By assisting with the implementation of aspects of clients’ care & support plans by providing psychological interventions of a routine nature, under the clinical supervision of a qualified professional psychotherapist drawing on their supervisor’s expertise and intervention as and when advised and directed.

By providing time limited assistance and support using psychotherapeutic approaches to enable service users overcome practical and psychological difficulties/barriers impacting on their individual recovery,

 Undertaking clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

The post involves seeing children and their families in family hubs and in the CAMHS clinic, as well as supporting the clinical work completed by the team.

You should be interested in offering focussed psychodynamic work to cases where there is a degree of complexity, as well as providing consultations to the networks supporting children and their families. You will receive supervision from experienced psychotherapists to support ou in your role.  

Some of the responsibilities of the role include:

1.    To undertake, under the clinical supervision of a qualified psychotherapist  protocol based psychological assessments of patients applying psychological,  self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the patient’s care.

2.    To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, clinically supervised by a qualified psychologist.

3.      To Hellp promote team cohesiveness, multidisciplinary working and at all times work collaboratively with colleagues in all parts of the Trust and other agencies to achieve healthy and effective working relationships and care provision.

Kensington and Chelsea CAMHS is well established multi-disciplinary team. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area. We use a diverse range of therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, systemic and family therapies, psychotherapy, psychoeducation and therapy groups and multi-family work. Kensington and Chelsea CAMHS consists of five main sub-teams: Emotional Disorders Team; Neurodevelopmental Team; Enhanced Treatment Team; Duty team; and under 5s Team.

The Inner under 5s team is composed of psychotherapists and CAMHS practitioners. The team is based in the Kensington and Chelsea CAMHS clinic as it is part of the larger CAMHS families, which is comprised of psychotherapists, Psychologists, Behaviour Analysts, Psychiatrists, CBT practitioners, DBT practitioners, Nurses and Art Psychotherapists. 

 

The post involves working with children and their families and this is primarily a face to face role given the nature of the work and the age of the children. 

You will receive supervision from experienced clinicians in the service.

This post involves liaising with psychological therapy and community hubs and family centres as well as third sector partners in the Borough.

We meet  monthly for clinical meetings. You will attend MDT referral meetings and contribute across the board to our work.
