As a Finance and Payroll Support Coordinator in our Defence team, you’ll help ensure accurate, timely financial support across key Defence Academy contracts. You’ll work closely with operational leaders, support services colleagues and finance partners to deliver essential financial processes that keep our services running smoothly and support positive outcomes for those who rely on them.

Your work will help create impactful solutions by improving the quality, accuracy and flow of financial information. You’ll build trusted relationships with colleagues and contribute to the future of a service that plays an important role in supporting Defence training and capability.

What you’ll do as a Finance and Payroll Support Coordinator

You’ll be entrusted to:

- Provide financial support across the DACI and JSCSC contracts, ensuring tasks are delivered accurately and on time.

- Support core finance activity, including raising fixed fees, ad hoc invoicing, reconciliations, billing for service variations, pass‑through charges and recharges.

- Maintain Petty Cash and R and R administration when required.

- Manage invoice queries to support timely payment and maintain the unbilled invoice process, escalating issues where necessary.

- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery.

- Support off‑site Centres of Excellence and Shared Service Centres (SSC) with finance queries and processes.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

- A good general level of education, ideally with GCSEs (A–C) in English and Mathematics.

- Strong PC literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Previous finance experience (preferred but not essential).

- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Confidence working under pressure, with great attention to detail and a methodical, deadline‑driven approach.

- A proactive mindset, able to seek improvements in processes and build effective working relationships.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
