Are you a Psychology graduate passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges?

Do you have experience in mentoring, coaching, youth work, care, or support roles and want to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable pupils?

A number of welcoming and inclusive schools across Bradford are seeking dedicated Graduate Behaviour Mentors to join their teams in full-time, long-term positions from September 2026.

About the Role

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support to access learning and achieve success in school.

Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, you will build positive relationships that promote engagement, confidence, and personal development.

You may work with pupils experiencing:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Anxiety and emotional dysregulation

ADHD and attention difficulties

Trauma and attachment-related challenges

Low self-esteem and confidence

Behavioural difficulties and barriers to learning

No two days are the same, making this an incredibly rewarding role for graduates looking to develop valuable skills within education, psychology, or youth support.

Key Responsibilities

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Provide one-to-one and small-group behavioural support

Encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement

Support students in developing emotional regulation strategies

Assist teachers in creating a safe, supportive learning environment

Help de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively

Act as a positive role model for students

Monitor progress and contribute to behaviour support plans

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

Candidate Profile

Essential

A 2:1 degree or above in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Education Studies, Childhood Studies, Social Work, Health & Social Care, or a related subject

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A resilient, patient, and proactive approach

Genuine passion for supporting young people

Commitment to making a positive impact on pupils' lives

Desirable

Previous experience working with children or young people

Mentoring, coaching, tutoring, care, youth work, or behavioural support experience

Understanding of SEMH, ADHD, trauma-informed practice, or behaviour management strategies

Interest in pursuing a long-term career within education or mental health services
