Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Theatre Practitioners to join our QHB Theatre team including Ophtalmics, ENT, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Dentals and Plastics Theatre team.Applicants need to be registered Operating Department Practitioners or Nurse with an interest in these speciality areas.
The post holder will form part of a flexible, multi-skilled team delivering inpatient and day case surgery to both elective and emergency patients, in a unique environment within the acute hospital setting.
This role covers a 24/7 service meeting the needs of elective and emergency patients, to which the successful candidate will be part of.
The role requires the individual to work within our multidisciplinary team providing high quality, individualised, perioperative patient care in both adult and paediatric theatres, care within the remit of Trust policies and procedures, with an opportunity to develop and extend skills across a variety of specialities.
The post holder must deliver safe, effective perioperative care in either anaesthetics or scrub roles or both.
The post holder will ensure safe preparation and use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control within the theatre environment by adhering to aseptic technique and sterile practices at all times.
The post holder must participate in WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and maintain patient safety standards.
The role involves monitoring patient's condition and escalate appropriately including maintaining accurate documentation in line with Trust policies.
The post holder is expected to maintain their professional/essential development within the scope of their individual appraisal and according to service needs.
The department also facilitates a wide variety of learners and there is a desirability for the post holder to support/mentor them as appropriate.
