Summary
The post holder is required to work within the limits of their competency in acute primary care (and minor injury when trained) seeing patients of all ages. They will be an integral part of a team which also includes NPs, CPs, GPRs and Health Care Assistants (HCAs). Excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues are essential along with openness and a firm duty of candour. Within the UTCs GPs work from an appointed ledger: patients are booked into 15-minute slots. GPs currently have 3 booked patients per hour and 1 x 15minute slot to support the wider UTC team as needed clinically whilst on shift. The postholder may need to be flexible in terms of location of work, depending on staffing and service demand. Clinical documentation is on SystmOne. Diagnosis is primarily based on history and examination (with baseline observations including random capillary glucose / ketones and ECGs). Plain X-ray imaging is available to those who are qualified to order and interpret them (training can be provided and on-call reporting radiographers / radiologists are available).
