Our client, a well-established and highly respected Building Services contractor with a strong reputation across Cambridge and the surrounding region, is seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Estimator to join its growing pre-construction team.

Hybrid Working
This position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, combining office attendance, site visits, and remote working to support both collaboration and work-life balance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished estimator to take ownership of complex mechanical tenders across commercial, education, life sciences, healthcare, and mixed-use developments while playing a key role in securing and shaping future project delivery.
The successful candidate will bring both technical estimating expertise and commercial awareness, with the confidence to lead bid activities and support strategic business growth.
Key Responsibilities
•
Lead the preparation and submission of detailed mechanical estimates and tender packages.
•
Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
•
Produce accurate cost plans, labour assessments, material pricing, and risk analysis.
•
Manage supplier and subcontractor enquiries and evaluate returned quotations.
•
Collaborate closely with design, commercial, and operational teams to develop competitive solutions.
•
Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
•
Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining technical integrity and project quality.
•
Support business development activities and contribute to bid strategy.
Candidate Requirements
•
Proven experience in mechanical estimating within the Building Services sector.
•
Strong understanding of HVAC, public health, and associated mechanical systems.
•
Demonstrated success delivering estimates for medium to large-scale projects.
•
Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
•
Confident communicating with senior stakeholders and clients.
•
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
•
Relevant industry qualifications are advantageous.
