Summary
Nature of the role
I am looking for a kind, reliable and genuinely empathetic Personal Assistant to help me get out of the house, access the community, attend appointments and manage the practical administration involved in everyday life.
My disability means that leaving the house, attending appointments and managing administration can take considerably more energy than it would for most people. I am looking for someone who can provide practical support while helping me remain independent and in control.
Main duties
• Supporting me to leave the house and access the local community.
• Accompanying me to medical, social care and other appointments.
• Helping me prepare for appointments, organise information and take notes where required.
• Helping me remember and follow up actions arising from appointments.
• Supporting me with shopping, essential errands and other practical tasks.
• Accompanying me to social activities, hobbies and places I want to visit.
• Supporting me when using my walking stick or wheelchair, including practical assistance with my wheelchair where required.
• Supporting access to shops, cafés, leisure activities and other community facilities.
• Helping with paperwork, emails, forms, phone calls and general life administration.
• Helping organise appointments, diaries and important dates.
• Assisting with online and telephone administration where appropriate.
• Helping break larger or overwhelming tasks into manageable steps.
• Helping prepare information or documents for professionals and organisations.
• Supporting me to keep on top of everyday tasks when fatigue, brain fog or executive functioning difficulties make them difficult.
• Helping me pace activities and recognise when I need to rest.
• Being flexible when plans need to change because of fluctuating symptoms.
Driving
A full UK driving licence and confidence driving is [essential/desirable – to confirm].
The role may involve driving me to appointments, activities or other destinations where appropriate.
Personal qualities
I am looking for someone who is:
• Kind, patient and genuinely empathetic.
• Reliable, trustworthy, driven and proactive.
• Organised, practical and good at problem-solving.
• Someone who sees something that needs doing and is willing to get on with it.
• Calm and adaptable when plans change.
• Positive, with a good sense of humour.
• Non-judgemental and respectful of privacy and boundaries.
• Comfortable working with someone who is neurodivergent and has fluctuating health needs.
• LGBTQ+ friendly and respectful of diversity.
• Confident and comfortable around dogs.
A good personality fit is important to me. I would like someone friendly and approachable who can build a genuine working relationship while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
