Summary
To provide leadership within the main Horticulture and Trade Skills environment at Rampton High Secure Hospital
To utilise specific Vocational qualifications namely Horticulture or a known trade qualification to provide a service for male and female patients experiencing mental ill health (to include Mental Illness, Personality Disorder and Learning Disability).
To be responsible for the health and safety of staff and patients within the Horticulture and Trade Skills environment.
The post is situated within the Forensic Care Group and located in Rampton High Secure Hospital.
The post holder will work with patients who present a risk to themselves and others and require treatment in a high secure setting. The post holder will supervise, instruct, and support patients in activities relating to their OT Vocational treatment programmes on and off wards and within the designated Horticulture and Trade skills area.
They will develop and deliver a needs led programme based on the individual patient’s Occupational Therapy goals. Take a lead role in the daily functions of the designated area of work. To include allocation of resources and compliance with Health and Safety and Security policy and procedures. They will take a lead on specific service developments specific to the work area and provide specialist knowledgeregarding the workplace.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Be actively involved in the clinical risk assessment
process and feed into risk information documents andrisk management plans for patients and adhere tothese.
Be actively involved in the assessment and treatmentof individual patients. Working with Occupational therapists to ensure full packages of care are deliveredeffectively.
Successfully time manage and independently

Attend relevant departmental and wider meetings as required and appropriate.
Communicate effectively within own service and with other colleagues.
Be involved in Clinical Governance and quality assurance activities as required.
Accurately record statistical information for meaningful activity and other data requirements
Keep accurate, appropriate, and contemporaneouspatient records on RIO in accordance with Trust Policy
Undertake administrative tasks as required by theservice and the Directorate.
Ensure that all resources are available within the department to deliver the planned activities.
Attend and actively engage in relevant courses, workshops, tutorials, and conferences whereappropriate.
Participating in the Trusts’ Performance Appraisal andDevelopment process in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
Continually update and develop skills and utilisecontinuous professional development (CPD)oopportunities
Complete all essential training.
Engage in regular clinical and managerialSupervision and ensure supervision of staff within own designated area.
Contribute to the training of other staff and patients asrequired within the allocated area and maintainaccurate records of this.
Ensure the maintenance of a safe and securetreatment environment at all times.
Take joint responsibility for development andmaintenance of all risk assessments and COSHHitems required for the workplace and the equipmenttherein.
Jointly develop and adhere to specific activity riskmanagement plans.
Work within Health and Safety legislation, Trustpolicies and local procedures, including external agencies e.g. DEFRA
Responsible for security and safety and maintains records and schedules of all equipment, resources, and toolswithin work area, and in line with High Secure Directions
Responsible for ensuring that any concerns abouthealth and safety are managed effectively and in atimely manner.
Take personal responsibility for maintaining up to dateknowledge and adhering to all Trust policies and localprocedures.
