Job description

As an apprentice technician, your role is to learn and assist experienced technicians in a specific technical field.

Assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs: You will help diagnose and fix issues with machinery, tools, or systems under the guidance of experienced technicians. This may involve performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting problems, and replacing faulty components.

Participating in installations and upgrades: You will support technicians in installing new equipment or upgrading existing systems. This can involve following instructions, handling tools and materials, and ensuring proper connections and configurations.

Conducting inspections and tests: You will learn how to perform inspections and tests to assess the functionality and performance of equipment. This may include using specialized tools and instruments, documenting results, and reporting any abnormalities or concerns.

Learning and applying technical knowledge: You will receive instruction and guidance on technical concepts, procedures, and safety protocols relevant to your field. It is important to actively learn and apply this knowledge in your daily tasks.

Following safety guidelines: Safety is paramount in any technical field. You must adhere to safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Documenting work and progress: You will be expected to keep accurate records of your work, including maintenance activities, repairs performed, and any relevant observations or findings. This documentation helps track progress and provides useful information for future reference.

Collaborating with team members: Effective teamwork is essential in technical environments. You will work closely with experienced technicians, supervisors, and other team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to exchange knowledge and insights.

Training Provided

Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centre.

Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the Doncaster, South Yorkshire, to complete their apprenticeship training. All training-related costs are fully covered as part of the programme, including travel, accommodation, and meals.

In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained through the remote sessions and at the Doncaster Training and Development Centre.

This is a fully rounded training experience where you will build life skills that last and gain both apprenticeship qualifications and brand certifications.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will receive the following:

Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Autocare Technician

Certificate in Automotive Refrigerant Handling

Level 2 qualification for safe isolation of electric and hybrid vehicles

Progression towards Level 3 apprenticeship standard in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
